مع استمرار الرأسمالية الأبوية الغيريّة في دَفعِنا نحو الاستهلاكية والرضوخ، نجد نضالاتنا تُعزَل وتُفصَل عن بعضها الآخر من خلال الحدود المادّية والحدود الافتراضية على حدٍّ سواء. ومع تحدّياتٍ إضافية يفرضها علينا وباءٌ عالميٌّ علينا تجاوزه، أصبحت سياسة فرِّق تَسُد مواتية للاستغلال المتزايد في مجالات عدّة.
ومع ذلك، أخذَنا «ابدعي، قاومي، غيٍّري: مهرجان للحراكات النسوية»، الذي نظّمته جمعية «حقوق المرأة في التنمية» AWID في الفترة ما بين 1 أيلول/ سبتمبر وحتى 30 أيلول/ سبتمبر 2021، في رحلةٍ حول ما يعنيه تجسّد حيواتنا في المساحات الافتراضية. اجتمعَت معنا في المهرجان ناشطات نسويات من حول العالم، لأجل مشاركة خبراتهن حول المقاومة والحرّيات المُنتَزَعة بصعوبة، والتضامن العابر للحدود، وكذلك لتوضيح الشكل الذي يمكن أن يبدو عليه التكاتف العابر للحدود القومية.
يحمل هذا التكاتف إمكانية مقاومة الحدود، ناسجاً رؤية لمستقبل تحويلي، لأنه سيكون إلغائيًا ومناهضًا للرأسمالية. على مدار شهر، وعبر البُنى التحتية الرقمية التي احتللناها بكويريّتنا ومقاومتنا وخيالاتنا، بيّن لنا المهرجان طريقةً للانحراف عن الأنظمة التي تجعلنا متواطئات في قهر أنفسنا وأخريات/ آخرين.
بالرغم من أن أودري لورد علّمتنا أنّ أدوات السيّد لن تهدم أبدًا منزله، بيّنت لنا سارة أحمد أنه بإمكاننا إساءة استخدام تلك الأدوات عن سبق إصرار. أصبح من الممكن تخيّل خلخلة في واقع الرأسمالية الأبوية الغيريّة، لأننا خلقنا مساحة للاحتشاد، بالرغم من كلّ الأشياء الأُخرى التي تتطلّب وقتنا.
إذا أدركنا الاحتشاد باعتباره أحد أشكال التمتّع، عندها سيصبح من الممكن خلق الرابط بين المتعة المتجاوزة والمقاوَمة العابرة للحدود القومية/ الرقمية. بين أنواع التمتّع التي تتحدّى الحدود من ناحية، والكويرية والبهرجة والأرض ونضالات السكّان الأصليين ومناهضة الرأسمالية والتنظيم المناهض للاستعمار من ناحية أخرى.
حاول هذا العدد التقاط كيفية اتخاذ ممارسة الاحتشاد في المهرجان لأشكالٍ وتخيّلات متعدّدة. إلى جانب التعاون المباشر مع بعض الحالمات/ين والمتحدّثات/ين في المهرجان، دعَونا عدداً كبيراً من أصوات أخرى من الجنوب العالمي لنكون في نقاش جماعي حول الكثير من الثيمات والموضوعات المرتبطة بالجنوب. فيما يلي خريطة لبعض جلسات المهرجان التي كانت أكثر إلهامًا لنا.

Memory as Resistance: A Tribute to WHRDs no longer with us
AWID’s Tribute is an art exhibition honouring feminists, women’s rights and social justice activists from around the world who are no longer with us.
In 2020, we are taking a turn
This year’s tribute tells stories and shares narratives about those who co-created feminist realities, have offered visions of alternatives to systems and actors that oppress us, and have proposed new ways of organising, mobilising, fighting, working, living, and learning.
49 new portraits of feminists and Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) are added to the gallery. While many of those we honour have passed away due to old age or illness, too many have been killed as a result of their work and who they are.
This increasing violence (by states, corporations, organized crime, unknown gunmen...) is not only aimed at individual activists but at our joint work and feminist realities.
The stories of activists we honour keep their legacy alive and carry their inspiration forward into our movements’ future work.
The portraits of the 2020 edition are designed by award winning illustrator and animator, Louisa Bertman.
AWID would like to thank the families and organizations who shared their personal stories and contributed to this memorial. We join them in continuing the remarkable work of these activists and WHRDs and forging efforts to ensure justice is achieved in cases that remain in impunity.

The Tribute was first launched in 2012
It took shape with a physical exhibit of portraits and biographies of feminists and activists who passed away at AWID’s 12th International Forum, in Turkey. It now lives as an online gallery, updated every year.
To date, 467 feminists and WHRDs are featured.

Tenemos el placer de presentarte a Mariama Sonko, inspiradora ecofeminista, campesina y defensora de los derechos humanos y de las mujeres, que vive actualmente en Niaguis, en el suroeste de Senegal.
Al crecer en una familia y comunidad campesina rural, fue testigo del papel esencial de la mujer en la producción de alimentos y el almacenamiento de semillas desde la infancia, mientras estaba inmersa en el trabajo y ritmos de la tierra.
Mariama ha defendido el conocimiento agrícola local y las prácticas campesinas desde los años 1990. Como madre de 5 hijos, los alimentos que ella misma cultiva son la principal fuente de sustento de su familia.
Actualmente es presidenta de Nous Sommes la Solution y está comprometida con la promoción de las prácticas agroecológicas y la agricultura familiar, con el fomento de la soberanía alimentaria, la biodiversidad y la preservación de las semillas campesinas, y con la exigencia del acceso equitativo a los recursos y a la tierra en África Occidenta para las mujeres.

2. Prepara el marco para la investigación
El marco para la investigación te servirá de guía durante todo el proceso y el documento que elabores para especificar ese marco también puede servirte como nota conceptual para compartir con las personas a las que consultes, con las organizaciones con las que te asocies o como propuesta de financiamiento para presentar a posibles donantes.
En esta sección
Antes de realizar una investigación:
- Fija las metas para la investigación
- Enumera las principales preguntas que quieres que te responda la investigación
- Explicita qué tipo de información necesitarás obtener y analizar para responder a las principales preguntas
- Define cuáles serán los productos finales de la investigación
Es posible que el marco de la investigación vaya cambiando con el tiempo, a medida que vayas puliendo las preguntas y obteniendo nueva información. Pese a eso, contar con un marco de referencia inicial para la investigación te ayudará a trabajar sobre bases más sólidas.
Metas
Para dotar a la investigación WITM de una base sólida, es importante que tengas claro lo que esperas lograr.
Por ejemplo: una meta de la investigación global WITM de AWID fue aportar información precisa para demostrar lo que ya sabíamos a partir de anécdotas, es decir, que las organizaciones por los derechos de las mujeres tienen mucho menos financiamiento del que necesitan. Pensamos que contar con esa información nos permitiría estar mejor posicionadas para influir sobre las decisiones que toman las financiadoras.
Algunas metas que podrías proponerte:
- Generar información ‘dura’ sobre la realidad del financiamiento y sus tendencias, que permita comprobar o descartar algunos mitos vigentes.
- Conocer con mayor profundidad cuáles son las diferencias entre lo que perciben lxs donantes y las organizaciones por los derechos de las mujeres.
- Influir sobre los apoyos que otorgan lxs donantes.
- Aportar ideas importantes a los principales debates acerca del financiamiento.
- Explorar la colaboración entre donantes y organizaciones por los derechos de las mujeres en aspectos surgidos de la investigación.
Preguntas principales
Enmarca el proceso de investigación con un conjunto de preguntas principales a las que solo tu investigación pueda dar respuesta y limítalas a un período determinado (p.ej. los últimos cinco años, el año pasado, etc.)
Para tener en cuenta:
- ¿Acerca de qué quieres saber más? (defínelo con precisión). ¿Qué hipótesis te gustaría poner a prueba? Poner esto por escrito te ayudará a pensarlo mejor.
- ¿Ya hay investigaciones sobre el mismo tema? Si ya existen, tal vez no tenga sentido hacer una nueva investigación WITM a menos que consideres que las que ya existen no son lo suficientemente amplias o específicas.
- ¿Qué período quieres cubrir en el análisis? Por ejemplo: en la investigación, ¿analizarás solo el año anterior, o varios años previos, por ejemplo, los últimos cinco años?
- ¿Piensas repetir la encuesta para recoger información en el futuro?
Elegir un marco temporal específico para la investigación te puede aportar resultados más precisos que si trabajas con un marco temporal abierto. Decidir si vas a repetir o no esta investigación a intervalos regulares te permitirá fijar parámetros para la recolección de datos que permitan replicarlos y compararlos fácilmente entre un período y otro.
Las principales preguntas que guiaron el proceso de investigación WITM de AWID fueron:
- ¿Cuál es la situación actual en cuanto a sostenibilidad financiera de las organizaciones de mujeres en todo el mundo?
- ¿Qué tendencias externas e internas influyen en las decisiones de lxs donantes en cuanto al apoyo para organizaciones y movimientos de mujeres?
Tipos de información
Ahora que ya decidiste cuáles serán las preguntas principales, puedes determinar qué tipo de información te servirá para responderlas. Esto a su vez te ayudará a planificar el resto del cronograma de la investigación WITM.
Por ejemplo, ¿vas a realizar una encuesta que abarque a una amplia porción de la población que hayas fijado como prioritaria? ¿Vas a analizar las solicitudes que están recibiendo las financiadoras y que provienen de una determinada región? ¿Vas a realizar también entrevistas (te recomendamos que lo hagas)? Cuando ya sabes qué tipo/s de información necesitas, puedes buscar fuentes externas que puedan aportártela desde el comienzo mismo del proceso y planificar el cronograma de acuerdo a eso. Algunas fuentes de información sugeridas son las siguientes:
- Encuestas creadas por ti para organizaciones por los derechos de las mujeres y donantes;
- Información sobre solicitudes recibidas y apoyos otorgados por donantes;
- Entrevistas con activistas, organizaciones y donantes destacadxs
- Información proporcionada por organizaciones de membresía que reúnen a donantes, como la Foundation Center [Centre de Fundaciones] (sitio en inglés) o grupos regionales o nacionales de donantes.
Contar con una variedad de información es una buena manera de generar análisis sólidos y profundos.
Por ejemplo, la información recogida en la Encuesta Global 2011 de AWID (en inglés) constituyó el eje central de nuestro análisis más reciente. Pero también obtuvimos información de entrevistas e interacciones con distintxs actores de este campo, desde donantes hasta activistas y organizaciones por los derechos de las mujeres.
Productos finales
Además de permitirte fijar un cronograma, formular un plan inicial acerca de los productos que vas a elaborar también te ayudará a decidir qué recursos vas a necesitar.
Por ejemplo, ¿solo vas a producir un informe extenso o también infografías, folletos y presentaciones? Según los productos que decidas elaborar, tal vez necesites contratar a una empresa de diseño, planificar eventos, etc.
Estos productos también serán las herramientas que utilizarás para alcanzar las metas, por eso es importante tenerlas presentes. Por ejemplo, tu investigación WITM, ¿está pensada solo como una herramienta de incidencia para influir sobre donantes? En ese caso, necesitarás productos que te permitan una mayor interacción con ellxs.
Algunos ejemplos de posibles productos:
- Un informe extenso para difundir entre lxs principales donantes y organizaciones.
Las investigaciones WITM de AWID siempre han tenido como principal producto un informe extenso, a partir del cual AWID elaboró otros productos más breves, que se mencionan aquí debajo. - Infografías para difundir en forma viral en línea;
- Una secuencia animada que muestre los resultados principales;
- Uno o varios folletos breves con los principales resultados y mensajes;
- Artículos y mensajes en blogs acerca de los principales resultados, para despertar interés en el informe más extenso;
- Seminarios presenciales o virtuales para presentar los resultados.
Conclusión: Darle un marco a la investigación te permitirá contar con un panorama general
Elaborar un marco para la investigación que incluya las metas, preguntas principales, tipos de información y productos finales te ayudará a producir un cronograma bien planificado, preparar por anticipado los recursos que necesitas y estimar un presupuesto realista.
Todo esto te facilitará los vínculos con lxs sociaxs externas y podrás ser flexible cuando ocurran contratiempos.

AWID in 2016: Co-Creating Feminist Futures
AWID is pleased to share our 2016 Annual Report.
2016 was an incredible year for AWID, we convened the 13th International AWID Forum in Bahia, Brazil, a space for strategizing and alliance building with feminists and other justice movements, which was attended by over 1800 participants from 120 countries and territories across the globe.
We know that women’s rights and feminist movements are key actors in creating sustainable transformative change. Within our movements, organizing, resisting and responding to the challenging context is sharpening, and in our increasingly connected world, the potential for collective action across diverse movements has dramatically grown.
This is the crucial work that AWID seeks to amplify and support every day.
What we achieved in 2016
We expanded solidarity and joint action across diverse movements
A highlight of 2016 was our ground-breaking 13th International Forum with the theme: “Feminist Futures: Building Collective Power for Rights and Justice”, where we harnessed the thinking and energy of nearly 500 partners, presenters, panelists, moderators, artivists, writers, facilitators, IT innovators, and performers, many of them leaders in their movements. We also supported the convening of the first and historical Black Feminisms Forum (BFF) organised by a working group of Black Feminists from across the world.
We strengthened knowledge of issues and strategies
- On challenging corporate power - we produced ‘Challenging corporate power: Struggles for women’s rights, economic and gender justice’ with the Solidarity Center, revealing the scale and scope of corporate power and outlining how corporations in collusion with elites and other powerful actors, are impacting the lives of women and oppressed peoples.
- On feminist economies - we released ‘Feminist Propositions for a Just Economy’ with the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) and the African Women’s Development and Communication Network FEMNET.
- On Young Feminist Activism - we published ‘Brave, Creative, Resilient: The Global State of Young Feminist Organizing’, a young feminist mapping project.
We contributed to collective advocacy
AWID, in partnership with other feminist and women’s rights organisations, engaged in advocacy and dialogue to explore better solutions for women’s rights agendas including our work with the Count Me In! consortium .
We increased the visibility of movements
The experiences of women with disabilities, Black and Afro-descendant women, sex workers, Indigenous women, trans and intersex people, domestic workers and how their lives are impacted by multiple oppressions and violence were placed front and center of the Forum process.
We also launched the 2016 WHRD Tribute to commemorate defenders who are no longer with us, during the 16 Days of activism, and thanks to the contributions from our members,
We drove attention to groups and issues that do not usually receive adequate mainstream media coverage through our partnership with The Guardian and Mama Cash.

Inna Michaeli
Biography
Inna is a feminist queer activist and sociologist with many years of deep engagement in feminist and LGBTQI+ struggles, political education and organizing by and for migrant women, and Palestine liberation and solidarity. She joined AWID in 2016 and served in different roles, most recently as Director of Programs. She is based in Berlin, Germany, grew up in Haifa, Palestine/Israel, was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and carries these political geographies and resistance to colonial past and present into her feminism and transnational solidarity.
Inna is the author of “Women's Economic Empowerment: Feminism, Neoliberalism, and the State” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022), based on the dissertation which earned her a doctoral degree from the Humboldt University of Berlin. As an academic, she taught courses on globalization, knowledge production, identity and belonging. Inna holds an MA in Cultural Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a Board Member of the Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East (Germany), and previously of +972 Advancement of Citizen Journalism. Previously Inna worked with the Coalition of Women for Peace and she is passionate about mobilizing resources for grassroots activism.

Biography
Michelle is a Southeast Asian feminist who enjoys conspiring to bring people together and spark conversations for social change and feminist knowledge sharing, through art, poetry, music and games. With a background in digital advocacy and communications strategy development, she has contributed to initiatives in digital rights, human rights research, and civil society coalition building throughout Southeast Asia. She has an LLB from National University of Singapore, enjoys following her feet down random city streets and likes coffee a little too much.
